Part 1 – Positive Impacts of COVID – mRNA Vaccine

We thought of sharing some positive impacts of COVID. We thought this is the right time to start series of these blogs – world is facing lot of sufferings and losses. We are seeing a lot of hopes in the vaccines. Lets share positivity around us and take care of mental and physical health.

What is a Vaccine

First vaccine was created and used by Edward Jenner, he used materials from cowpox pustules to provide protection against smallpox.  Vaccines prevent many millions of illnesses and save numerous lives every year. As a result of widespread vaccine use, the smallpox virus has been completely eradicated and the incidence of polio, measles and other childhood diseases has been drastically reduced around the world.

How mRNA Vaccine is different

Conventional vaccine approaches, provide durable protection against a variety of dangerous diseases. But due to the pandemic, researchers across whole world were trying create new vaccines. One such method is mRNA Vaccine.

Messenger RNAs, also known as mRNA, are one of the types of RNA that are found in the cell. This particular one, like most RNAs, are made in the nucleus and then exported to the cytoplasm where the translation machinery, the machinery that actually makes proteins, binds to these mRNA molecules and reads the code on the mRNA to make a specific protein. So in general, one gene, the DNA for one gene, can be transcribed into an mRNA molecule that will end up making one specific protein.

Companies - Moderna and Pfizer have worked and waiting for approval on mRNA vaccines that allow people to build immunity to viruses like Covid-19. These vaccines contain specifically designed mRNA that instructs cells how to make viral proteins. The mRNA vaccine prompts cells to manufacture and release a COVID-shaped protein in sufficient quantities to provoke an immune response. That immune response prepares the body to quickly recognize and attack any COVID-shaped protein encountered in the body.

Lets hope these Vaccines get approved and save humans. If COVID vaccine works well, researchers can use this mRNA vaccine for Cancer treatment as well.

Instagram launches video chat

Facebook today announced that Instagram,  its popular photo-sharing platform, is getting support for video chats, among a couple of other new features.

As Facebook co-founder and CEO Mr.Mark Zuckerberg noted in his F8 keynote today, quite a few Instagram users already use the platform’s live video feature to chat with friends. “People use live video to just hang out,” he said.

We haven’t seen the new video chat in action, but chances are it’s a pretty straightforward feature that will expand on the existing messaging tools in Instagram.

In addition to these video chats, Instagram is also getting an improved Explore tab that, according to Zuckerberg, is “more focused on the things you are interested in.”

Instagram is also getting a new filter to protect users from bullying comments. “This new filter hides comments containing attacks on a person’s appearance or character, as well as threats to a person’s well-being or health,” the Instagram team writes today. In addition to the automatic filtering, Instagram will now also get alerts when there are repeated issues with an account.

Instagram is also getting support for Facebook’s AR features with AR features from third parties.

The company made the announcement at its F8 developer conference in San Jose today, where the company also announced a somewhat related new feature: group video chats in WhatsApp.

These new features will roll out over the course of the next few weeks.

Microsoft releases preview of Office 2019

Microsoft is now rolling out a free preview of Office 2019 for businesses, including new versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote.

Office 365 subscribers already have all the new features – continuous updates are one of the main benefits of the cloud service – but it’s the first perpetual release since 2016.

New features in Office 2019 include the ability to manage icons, vector graphics and 3D images in PowerPoint; funnel charts and 2D maps in Excel; Office 365 groups for Outlook; and a chic black theme for Word.

A preview of Office 2019 for Mac will arrive in the coming months, but Microsoft has already announced that the PC version will be exclusively for Windows 10, pushing businesses still using Windows 7 to upgrade their licenses.

Microsoft is also cagey about the future perpetual version of Office, saying only that: "As standard practice, Microsoft will continue evaluating customer needs and industry trends to determine a plan for future versions of our products and services."

Office 2019 preview isn’t available for home users – only businesses with volume licenses for Office 2016 that are planning to upgrade when the suite launches later this year. Everyone else will have to wait a little longer.
